Medium-firm mattresses are part of the extensive Bed SOS inventory. Please see below to learn more about the medium-firm classification.
Between the 'medium' and 'firm' classifications of mattress firmness is 'medium-firm'. This classification denotes a higher level of firmness and a proportionally lower level of body contouring. For purposes of comparison, the medium-firm classification denotes the fourth of five levels of firmness, with 'soft' being the first and 'firm' being the fifth.
Experts recommend the medium-firm for people who sleep almost exclusively on their backs. A medium-firm mattress provides optimal support for the lower back, helping to keep the entire back in alignment throughout the night. Someone who sleeps on the side will find a medium-firm mattress uncomfortable because it lacks body contouring properties. The medium-firm might also be uncomfortable to the person who shifts positions frequently.
If you are primarily a back sleeper and you frequently wake up in the morning with lower back pain, it could be that your mattress is not firm enough. Check the tag for its firmness classification. If you are sleeping on a soft or soft-medium mattress, you are not getting enough support for your lower back. If you are sleeping on a medium or medium-firm mattress, it could just be that your current mattress is worn out.
Bed SOS carries medium-firm mattresses from a number of manufacturers including Slumber Sleep and Julian Bowen. Some of the mattresses come with a one- or five-year manufacturer’s warranty so be sure to check details prior to purchase. Also note that some of our medium-firm mattresses include a memory foam top layer. Memory foam is an excellent material for providing lower back support.
